Jim’s Country Jam @ Waterloo Ice House (07/17/2011)

What words can we use to describe the twice-a-month country jam at Waterloo Ice House?  Pretty sure we’ve already used wonderful, entertaining, astounding, talented, fun, excellent, surprising, and several others.  So, this time, all we’re gonna say is, “Ya shoulda been there!”.  If you weren’t there, then all we can say is, “Ya missed a heck of a show and need to be at the next one!”. :)

Jim’s Country Jam @ Waterloo Icehouse (12/19/2010)

It’s getting close to Christmas…..everyone is getting stressed out with all the hustle and bustle.  Nothing better to help you de-stress than Jim’s Country Jam.  The jam is so much fun because of all the talented musicians, and friends.  But, added to all that, the staff at Waterloo is wonderful!  They do a great job of making you feel at home and the food is always great!   If you’ve never been to one of the jams, you really should check it out.  It happens the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month.  And, if you’ve been to one, you know what we’re talking about and we’ll see you there next time!!  :)

Susan Maxey has a great voice whether she's the lead vocalist or doing harmony.
We really enjoy Sebastian Garcia's rock-a-billy.

Our favorite “Christmas Song” is Merle Haggard’s 1973 #1 hit, If We Make Through December. Can’t count the number of times musicians have told us they like the song, but it’s a hard one for the band to play without a lot of practice.  This year, though, Jim and the band agreed to try it for me at one of their gigs.  After 37 years, we finally got to hear the song played live and loved it.  The band did it again for us tonight…after a little trouble counting it off.  :)

How many “country” bands do you know that throw in the theme song from “A Peanuts Christmas” cartoon?  This one does…..and has fun doing it!  Although, it just wasn’t the same without Teri Joyce and Jim doing the dancing.  :)

No better way to begin the Thanksgiving week than at Waterloo Icehouse listening to all the talented singers and musicians that show up twice a month for Jim’s Country Jam.  We always try to get all the names, but this time there were so many new ones, we missed a few.  Hopefully someone can fill in the names for us because they are all so talented and deserve to be recognized.

Twice a month, a whole bunch of great musicians and vocalists meet up at Waterloo Ice House for good food, visiting, and jamming. The nice thing? They let us come to watch and listen. :)

You just never know who will show up at the twice monthy jam session hosted by Jim Stringer and The AM Band.  One thing you do know is that all the musicians will be excellent.  And, you’ll wonder why the singers aren’t in the Top 10 on all the national charts.

Twice a month we get to play “the ears” with a great selection of musicians at Jim Stringer’s Country Jam. It’s always a treat to see/hear them all!!! (besides…the food is pretty good, too!)
