Knights of Texas Swing @ Artz Ribhouse (05/29/2011)
The fifth Sunday of any month that has one, you’ll find us at Artz enjoying the food and the Western swing sounds of The Knights of Texas Swing featuring Paul Schlessinger, Jimmy Grabowske, Ray Tessmer, Sherman Lindsay, and Kim Cochran. We’re talking fiddles, pedal steel, guitars, an easy drum beat, and great vocals. Oh, yeah, and lots of fun!!

Jim Grabowske @ Artz Ribhouse (05/15/2011)
Usually, the third Sunday of the month, you’ll find Bert Rivera and friends holding forth on the pedal steel at Artz Ribhouse. This Sunday, though, Bert had family obligations so he called on our friend Jim Grabowske to set in for him. We love Bert, but sure were happy to see Jim on stage.
If you don’t know Jim, check out the article in the Austin Chronicle written by Margaret Moser (Hank, Harry, and Jesse James) or our little blurb and pictures in the archive (Texas and Music – Jim Grabowske). Even better, if you don’t know him, make the effort to meet him. He’s a true talent, a Southern gentleman and great friend.
Don’t mean to slight the others on stage with Jim. Talk about talent!! Ray Tesmer on lead guitar, Howard Kalish on fiddle, Dodd Meredith on drums, and Brent Wilson on stand up bass. Besides great musicians, all of them are excellent vocalists.
Be sure to check out the video below of one of Jim’s favorites, “Rose Room”. (If it doesn’t appear below, just refresh the page. Been a little slow loading tonight.)

Sunset Valley Boys @ Artz Ribhouse (04/16/2011)
What can be better than delicious food at Artz served with a big helping of county music? Well, in our opinion, not much.
That’s why we made sure we were at Artz when the Sunset Valley Boys setup and started playing. Of course, besides the food and the music, it’s always great to see all our friends!
- Sherman "studiously" setting up the drums

- Polk Shelton. Next time you see him ask him which way is "up" on his harmonica. (Sorry, Polk, but it was funny!)

Knights of Texas Swing @ Artz Ribhouse (08/29/2010)
A Sunday evening of good food, great music, and wonderful friends. Just how great is all that on a late summer evening? Be sure to watch the video, too…..especially Paul when they really got into it.

- Jim Grabowske is going to kill me when he sees this!! But I wish I'd gotten a video of it. I've never seen anyone so quick at stringing and tuning steel guitar. He only missed one song!

- Jim Grabowske is one of my heros. Not only is he unbelievable on the pedal steel, he and his lovely wife are two of the sweetest people in Austin TX. We won't go into the fact that he's in multiple Halls of Fame for both his steel playing and his love and knowledge of Western Swing music......or mention the famous acts he's played with including Hank Williams SR. No....we'll honor his humbleness and not mention all those things....he'd just get all embarrassed again. :)

I had to move around a little to get out of the way of dancers. Dancers and audience are much more important than videos…..they are why these guys play. Besides….they’re fun to watch and add so much to the evening!
Artz Ribhouse Benefit (05/02/2010)
A benefit was held to help a venue that has helped so many others. A lot of our friends were there, so….of course….we were too! :) The place was packed almost to standing room only. An evening filled with music, fun, and friends. Oh yeah….they tell me a lot of funds were razed for Artz as well.
