T Jarrod Bonta @ The Broken Spoke (07/27/2011)

Twice a month, T and the guys take up residence in the Broken Spoke’s front room for a couple of hours of great music with a featured guest.  The guest tonight was Ms Rosie Flores!  Nope, can’t miss that even if we have to leave work early to get there in time. :)

ASG Benefit @ Threadgills (04/06/2011)

The Austin Songwriters Group is made up of great song writers……singers……musicians……PEOPLE!  Every year, they celebrate Merle Haggard’s birthday by throwing a big ol’ party to help a deserving cause.  This year, that cause was to help raise money to help cover the medical expenses of one our friends, Ted Branson.  Besides being one of the favorite DJs on KOOP radio here in Austin, Ted and his lovely wife, Linda, actively support the music community in ways most of us will never know.

Linda had said she’d save us a seat, but we figured she might forget with everything else going on and sure wouldn’t have blamed her.  We should’ve known better!!  She not only remembered,  she had us in the front row, just right for getting great photos IF we were great photographers!  :)

The list of performers was like a Who’s Who of Austin Music.  Some our old friends, some we knew, some we knew-of, some we didn’t know, and all of them great.  Then, there was everyone in the audience!  So good to visit with friends we hadn’t seen in a while.  Special thanks to Winker for finding our keys although how we lost that huge key ring is a mystery to us…..just glad he found them.  :)  Thanks, too, to Brent for introducing us to some pretty special people…..as if he wasn’t special enough!!

It was a perfect Austin spring evening!!  Hugs to all that worked so hard to put on the show.  Love to Ted and Linda as we keep them in our hearts and prayers.  Apologies to anyone whose name is misspelled or lost.  :)

Teri & The Tagalongs @ Giddy Ups (03/12/2011)

Teri and The Tagalongs always put on a good show and tonight wasn’t any different. These guys and gals seem to really enjoy their time on stage and it shows.  With a mix of good country music and lots of originals enhanced by great harmonies, they keep the crowd dancing, laughing, singing along, and smiling!  We were starting to wind down but just couldn’t convince ourselves to leave for fear of missing something.  Besides, it was T’s birthday!

T Jarrod Bonta @ The Broken Spoke (01/12/2011)

Twice a month, T and friends play “the front room” at the Broken Spoke and have a guest join them.  This time it was one of our other friends, Ms Susan Maxey!  We had so much fun….just wish I’d gotten a picture of Jim as the front legs on his pedal steel started collapsing as he was playing it.  Being the professional he is, he just kept playing as we all held our breath.  :)

Teri & The Tagalongs @ Giddy Ups (12/17/2010)

We learned a few things about Teri tonight.  First, the girl does not stand still!  You would not believe the number of blurred pictures we have of her.  Then, she has a great sense of humor.  And finally, she has the ability to convince friends to do things they might not ordinarily do…..like get a country band to play “Linus & Lucy, The Peanuts Theme” and then get them to dance to it with her.  Yes, Teri & Jim, you were adorable and Warner Bros. called to see if you would audition for a remake of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. We think you’d probably get the parts.   (Oh why didn’t we have the video camera ready?)

Teri & The Tagalongs @ Giddy Ups (11/27/2010)

Well, we were all stuffed and waddling after Thanksgiving.  What better way to work off all that food than a trip down to Giddy Ups to listen and dance to the honky-tonk music of Teri Joyce and the Tagalongs.  Not sure we got rid of all the turkey, but we sure had fun!
