A friend asked a while back if we were going
to be at Giddy Ups to hear his dad play. Sure, why not. Most of
our friends go to Giddy Ups so it would be a chance to see and visit with them.
Besides, we
believe 'new' bands enjoy seeing a good crowd on their first night in any venue.....especially
when it's their first 'professional' gig as a group. Sounded like a fun
night. We weren't disappointed! We started the night just saying 'hi'
to everyone and visiting. Then the music started! We were out on
the patio before the end of the first song! Several of the band's musician
friends showed up including Glen Collins. We were 'hooked'! At the
end of the evening, we weren't ready for the music to stop.
And,
the band wasn't ready either. While members of the band were packing up
the equipment, Sam, Glenn, Tony, and Craig each treated us to a second....acoustic....show.
If it hadn't been for the fact that the bar had to close before TABC came in
and caused trouble, we'd probably spent the whole night there!
We've seen Sam and the guys a lot since that first night. They never
fail to make the night special. You just can't ask for anything better!
If you enjoy traditional country music, and like
to be around
a fun crowd, you need to see Sam Bentley and His Honky Tonk
Band. Sam and the guys always seem to play for 'the fun of it'.
They're all super nice, and talented. As a result, you never
know who's going to show up to hear them and maybe get up and sing few songs!! People like Glen Collins, Bobby Pounds, or Kevin Fowler.
If no one 'famous' shows up, Sam and the guys are more than 'famous' enough
for us!!
