My
Parents
I've thought long and hard about this part of my website. How
would I arrange it...what stories would I tell....what 'family secrets'
could I tell now that most of the guilty are no longer with us?
Finally, I decided I'd do it the same way I did the rest of the
site...with pictures...like the one to the left taken of my folks in the
mid-seventies while they were on vacation. Dad was in his sixties and
Mom in her fifties.....they aged so well....wish they'd shared that trait
with me!! Or the one below...the only picture I
have of me as a little girl with my folks.
Several years ago I created a book of pictures and a little history of
our family and gave a copy to my son, Andy, my brother and sisters, and a
very special cousin.....I forgot to keep one for myself!! So, here I
go again...trying to give everyone a little taste of what it was like
growing up with Mom & Dad.
They loved each other with all their hearts and they loved their kids.
They loved music and loved to laugh...two traits they did share with
me...traits that are even more important than aging well.
They were hard workers....except for the time a tractor ran over Dad's leg
laying him up for several weeks. They'd give the shirts off their
backs to a friend in need. They never had much...but they had all they
needed and more. They had their love, family, friends, music, and laughter.
Don't get me wrong...my folks weren't perfect...not by any stretch of the
imagination. But when I compared them to the parents of my
friends....I had the best ones!
So, please read my ramblings about my family....they won't be in any
order....just as I think of them or find an old memory in a picture. |
