Dave has been playing every other Thursday night at Ross' Old Austin Cafe
for quite a while. I just never got to go even though it's just a
short distance from where I work. This week was different. I
worked a little late and decided that the day would be made better if I
could find somewhere to get a sandwich and listen to great music at the same
time. (Okay....I'll be honest....I planned it this way!!) It had
been way too long since we'd seen Dave and I was missing listening to him.
I don't know who was more surprised that I'd actually gone.....Dave or me!Even though it's billed as an acoustic show, Dave usually has Bill and Steve set in with him. Bill was there, but there wasn't any Steve! Seems Steve didn't realize which week it was and was sitting on his couch an hour away from the Cafe. He started rushing to get there, but, Dave & Bill didn't think they should wait. I'd never seen a gig done with just acoustic and bass guitars, but, the guys did great. They even did Highway 40 Blues for me.....no easy feat without that lead guitar....but, they made it seem effortless. Dave has a new CD out......We Have A Winner.....and I think Dave really has a 'winner'. The CD truly shows Dave's versatility as a songwriter as well as a singer. You can get order a copy through his website or several online music stores. But.....if you're really smart, you'll attend one of his gigs where you can enjoy an evening of entertainment, buy the CD, AND have Dave autograph it! |
