I had promised myself I wasn't going to post any more pictures of Dale and the guys until I had posted pictures of some of the other bands we go see.  Oh well...it's not the first promise to myself I've ever broken!  You see.....this was a special day.

It didn't start out 'special'.  A friend (and fellow fan of Dale and the Lonestars) emailed that she was coming to Austin to see Dale at Ginny's.  Well....I couldn't let her go alone!  Besides, this gave me an excuse to get out of the house on a dreary Sunday afternoon (sounds good, huh?).

I got there early....waaaay early.   I'd been told that Sundays had become so popular you had to be there when the doors open if you wanted a table.  I think that's an exaggeration because the place was empty when I walked in!  The plus to being early was I finally got the picture above of the Dale Watson 'Texas Proud....Play it Loud' banner that's usually hidden behind the guys!

The day was gloomy, but warm so the motorcycles were out.  What guys are prone to do when motorcycles are around?  Check out the pictures and you'll see.  Lots of pretty ladies around and the guys were 'entranced' by the bikes!  ;)

We got to watch Don-Don change a string on the steel...he's quick!

But, now, the 'special' part.   A surprise visit from Johnny Rodriguez!!  When Dale realized who was in the audience, he called Johnny up for a couple of songs.....the 'crowd went crazy'.  Johnny's voice is as strong as ever.  One of the songs he sang is a favorite of mine, 'That's the Way Love Goes'.  WOW!!

I didn't go outside on the break, but reports were that Johnny was really sweet and took time to speak with every fan.....that was just about everyone!  We found out that he has a new CD in the works that's being produced by the legendary Merle Haggard.

Later, Dale got Johnny back on stage to finish the show.  What a Sunday!   Now, you know why I always tell you to see the guys every chance you get!  You never know what will happen when they're on stage!
