This night proved again what professionals Dave and the entire band really are! Nephew's is a 'college bar' in a 'college town'. Usually, the only night they have live country music is Tuesday when the Ace in the Hole band and friends have a 'jam session'. Those nights are so successful, Joe decided to start having more country music. Dave was the first band to play the 'Thursday Country Night'. The timing was bad! It's always hard to play somewhere for the first time. Even if you have a lot of fans and friends, there usually isn't enough to fill a club on a week night! This night was worse. Not only was it Nephew's first country band on a Thursday....and Dave's first night at the club....just a block away a club had one of the big name Texas recording artists! Nephew's was empty!! Dave and Rio didn't let it stop them. They put on one heck of a show! We enjoyed every minute of it! To make the night even better for us, Jackie was back....neck brace and all! As we left, Joe told us he was having Dave and the guys back! He was surprised how Dave had played to that empty house just as if it were full. We weren't surprised.....he doesn't know Dave like we do!! |
