| 1/23 | Sam Bentley @ Hills Cafe # 100_2459 |
Sam was booked to do an acoustic show in the bar at Hill's Cafe right before Christmas. Well, not sure how 'acoustic' when you have a lead guitar and a bass player. We didn't care, though.....we were having too much fun. The guys decided to do a few new songs and they did a great job. It isn't often you hear the local bands do a Blaze Foley or a Townes Van Zant song even though both had a strong influence on the music scene before their untimely deaths. Sam did a great job on both. Bobby Pounds was in the 'crowd' and agreed to do a couple of songs for us which was a treat as well. It's always great to hear him sing! Then Cody took over the guitar duties for Fred and his Grandpa on stage. But, when he started Sweet Home Alabama, Sam asked Bobby to get on stage. All in all, it was a great night with really good friends. What a way to celebrate the Christmas Season! |
