Thanksgiving at Ginny's Little Longhorn. What better time for a 'hoe-down'? And the band dressed the part as did most of the crowd. The place was packed....as always! And, out back there were even hay bales to sit on. <--- As the party started, I just couldn't resist this 'American Gothic-ish' shot of Gene Kurtz! The guys were in fine form. We missed Herbie who was taking a few days off with family. But, Tom Lewis did a great job on drums just as he had at Antone's on Tuesday. It was so much fun to see some of our old friends and we met some really neat new ones as well. One thing about Ginny's, it's so small (to quote Dale, 'no bigger than a minute....well, really about 45 seconds') you just can't help meeting new people! Dale had a young banjo picker set in with them in keeping with the 'hoe-down' theme. I only got his first name...Ron...but he was awesome and really added to the atmosphere as did a lot of 'bluegrass done country style'! By the end of the first set, the Weary Boys had appeared and treated us by playing through the first break with Dale joining them 'on stage' before letting them go. We'd hesitated about going.....we were glad we went! |
