1/16 Sam Bentley @ Hill's Cafe # 100_1808
Sam Bentley and His Honky Tonk Band

The 'historic Hill's Cafe'....what a neat venue.  Huge oak trees, a stage that's seen more 'stars' than most, and, great food.

It could've been a little warmer, but, I guess we're never satisfied.  The last time Sam played here, we were complaining it was too hot!  Let's face it, there aren't a lot of 'perfect weather' nights in Texas for outdoor gigs!  That's part of what makes it so special.

But, no matter what the weather, the guys did a great job.  Charlie Pritchard sat in on guitar since Fred had another commitment.  Albert and Jerry shared the drum duties.  Then, of course, we had Jim on steel and Wes on bass.  When you think about it, there's an awful lot of talent in the Honky Tonk Band!

There was a guest appearance by Tony Bentley who we'd been missing while he fought off a cold that seemed to hang on forever.  And, Beme Badger stepped up for a rendition of 100% Texan.

The star of the show was Sam.  He's one of the few vocalists that has to be told by venue management that it's time to stop!!  Yvonne told me that he'd keep going all night if they let him....and I believe it!

Come see a 'Sam Show'.....I guarantee you'll have fun!
